Application example 009 - PIDS, Plant Information Display System

Summary description:
The customer needed to be informed, through web pages, of specific production statistics of four production lines. Information regarding rates and total parts produced per shift also needed to be displayed for all employees to see.

Specific challenges:
Existing machinery had to be modified to allow the PIDS to connect to relevant machine components. Each machine being from a different manufacturer was equipped with many different types of controllers.

Details on the PIDS system from Centris Technologies can be seen here. Essentially, after hooking-up the PIDS input channels to specific machine signals, and adapting the screens, the system pretty much worked out of the box.

Specifications:
-8x 22" LCD screens, up to 300 feet distance;
-4 machines instrumented and connected to the PIDS system;
-Status web pages with Trends + management screen for parameters;
-OPC connectivity between the PIDS controller and a third party SCADA system if necessary.
