Specific challenges:
Exepriments are very fragile and control needs to be maintained very precisely and without interruption. Operators select the best control algorithm for a given experiment, based on experimental results. Since many researchers and interns are called to work on the control algorithms, with no formal training in automation, ISaGRAF's IEC 61131-3 compliance is a definite asset. New instruments are added continuously, so flexibility of tool is also important.
