Application example 005 - Optics

Summary description :
The customer designs and manufactures lens processing machines for optics labs. They require an application development tool that allows rapid application creation and certification, while interfacing to some of the top hardware components currently found on the market, including motion.

Specific challenges:
Performance, flexibility, reliability, ease-of-use and connectivity had to be rolled into one robust package to perform multiple tasks such as complex 3-D motion, discrete and process control. ISaGRAF allowed the use of the SST Profibus interface card which was connected to Wago I/O blocks and Festo valve banks. A specific ISaGRAF driver was created to interface with the PMAC card to drive the Parker servo motors.

Specifications:
-Control at various speeds, using multiple ISaGRAF engines on one industrial PC;
-About 300 I/O hooked up to the Profibus network;
-400,000 3D coordinates for lens carving motion;
-2 HMI operation station for parameters and supervision;
-OPC connectivity between controller and HMI system;
-Profibus between ISaGRAF and Wago / Festo blocks.
