Summary description :
Data acquisition and control system used on various R&D experiments. A powerful yet very flexible tool was required to perform the data acquisition and control as the experimental set-ups are in a continuous state of change. All controlled data is archived on a central server with multiple stations displaying graphics and trends, with reporting capabilities.

Specific challenges:
The customer laboratory has a great deal of legacy QNX4 equipped VMIC computers and I/O boards. They wanted to keep QNX 4 for its outstanding uptime and reliability, as well as hold onto the equipment as it represented a significant capital investment. By choosing ISaGRAF, the customer was able to meet these requirements, while at the same time providing a modern and standard IEC 61131-3 programming and execution environment. That is, ISaGRAFprovided the main application core.

Specifications:
-Data acquisition & control, between 5 ms and 250 ms;
-About 300 MB of data stored each day, continuously;
-About 300 I/O split between 3 controllers;
-5 HMI client stations for visualisation;
-Web screens for some of the experiments, using HiBeam;
-Excel reports generated on demand;
-OPC connectivity between ISaGRAF controllers and HMI system;
-ODBC interface between ISaGRAF system and third party database.
